Fraternity and Sorority Life Welcomes New Director

Michigan State University’s Student Affairs is pleased to announce Tyler Manning as the new director of Fraternity and Sorority Life. Manning brings more than a decade of experience advising and supporting fraternity and sorority communities across the country and a deep commitment to student development and community engagement.

“We are excited to announce that Tyler Manning will be our next FSL director,” shares Assistant Vice President for Inclusive Access and Belonging Dr. Genyne Royal. “In just over a year at MSU, he has made a remarkable impact and has built an outstanding reputation among our partners in the field.”

Manning has been part of MSU and the Student Affairs team since November 2024, serving as associate director in the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life. In that role, he quickly became a trusted leader within the community and a valued partner across campus.

Manning believes fraternities and sororities can be transformational in a student’s personal growth, leadership development and career journey. He says he looks forward to continuing to support MSU’s fraternity and sorority community of more than 5,000 students across 58 chapters.

“I am most excited to work with our campus and community partners to continue to elevate the fraternity and sorority experience at Michigan State, including engagement with our alumni across the country,” he says.

In recognition of his leadership and impact, Manning received the 2025 Outstanding Fraternity and Sorority Advisor Award from Alpha Phi International. He is a Certified Student Affairs Educator, holding both the Core certification and the fraternity and sorority life specialty certification through the Higher Education Consortium for Student Affairs Certification. He also holds a Hazing Prevention Advocate Certification from the Hazing Prevention Network.

Manning earned his master’s degree in student affairs administration in higher education from Ball State University and brings a strong foundation in best practices, student advocacy and organizational leadership to his new role.

“His extensive knowledge and experience will not only benefit our office,” says Dr. Royal, “but will also continue to drive our community forward in meaningful ways.”
