If you ask Kim Steed-Page, MSW, about her journey at Michigan State University, she’ll tell you straight away: it’s never been about titles. It’s about people, community, and a quarter-century commitment to the Spartan community. 

After 25 years of dedicated service, leadership, and mentorship on campus, Steed-Page is stepping into a pivotal role as the new Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, overseeing the Department of Inclusive Access and Belonging (IAB). 

For anyone who knows Kim, the transition feels like a natural evolution. She isn't just taking on a new administrative title—she's expanding a lifelong mission. 

“Honestly, the strongest emotions are gratitude and excitement,” Steed-Page says. “I am an alumna of MSU and I’ve spent my entire career here. MSU has shaped me both professionally and personally. To have the opportunity to serve as AVP feels incredibly meaningful.” 

“We have a responsibility to admitted students—to support them as whole people, honoring what they bring with them and who they become during their time with us.” 

A Quarter-Century of Spartan Dedication 

Steed-Page’s roots at MSU run deep. Over the past 25 years, she’s worn many hats across Student Affairs—most recently serving as the interim AVP and a unit director, where she worked directly on the frontlines of student support.  

That firsthand experience as director of the Student Parent and Caregiver Resource Center is exactly what prepares her to lead on a divisional scale. She understands the challenges, complex problem-solving, and the daily passion required to keep student programs thriving. 

“Serving as a director gave me a firsthand understanding of both the incredible work happening across Student Affairs and the challenges our staff navigate every day,” she reflects. “My motivation for stepping into the AVP role was the chance to expand my impact—supporting not only students directly but also supporting the staff and leaders whose work makes student success possible.” 

For Steed-Page, the relationship between staff well-being and student thriving is simple: student success and staff success are deeply interconnected. As AVP, she’s eager to step up as a thought partner and advocate for unit directors across the division, creating an environment where staff feel empowered to innovate, collaborate, and do their best work. 

Collaboration Over Silos 

When asked about her vision for the Department of Inclusive Access and Belonging, Steed-Page places students right at the center. Her top priority? Gathering direct student feedback and integrating student voices directly into her team's daily operations. 

She’s also on a mission to break down organizational silos so that the units in IAB function as a seamless, unified web of support. 

“Our students have complex lives and needs, and the more we collaborate, the more effectively we can serve them,” Steed-Page explains. “Some of the most impactful work happens when people bring different perspectives, expertise, and experiences together around a shared goal. Progress happens through relationships and trust.” 

Steed-Page grounds her leadership in unwavering faith and hope. 

 “I’ve watched people continue showing up for one another during some very challenging moments. Every day, I see staff investing in students and supporting colleagues. Our greatest strength has always been our people.” 

Cards, Country, and Chocolate Peanut Butter: Meeting Kim Beyond the Desk 

Behind the professional credentials and decades of institutional knowledge is a self-proclaimed lifelong Spartan who cherishes family, music, and a little friendly competition. 

Her primary support system? Her husband, Rodney, and their two sons, Jayden and Bryson—a tight-knit group she lovingly calls her “ride and live crew.” Together, the Steed-Page family bleeds Green and White, whether they're cheering at Spartan athletic events or celebrating personal milestones. 

When she steps away from campus work, you'll likely find Kim surrounded by family and friends, holding a hand of cards.

• Game Night Champion: She’s always down for a competitive round of Spades, Uno, Tapple, or Pictionary. 
• Current Goal: She’s actively learning Euchre—which she rightly calls "a Michigan rite of passage." 
• Eclectic Playlists: Depending on the day, her music queue swings from '90s pop and R&B to gospel and country. 
• The Quickest Way to Her Heart: Anything chocolate and peanut butter (gluten-free, of course!).
