Office of Student Support and Accountability Launches Redesigned Website

The Office of Student Support and Accountability (OSSA) at Michigan State University today announced the launch of its redesigned website at ossa.msu.edu. The updated site reflects a commitment to Spartan well-being, student success and community expectations, Additionally, the new site offers a more modern design, intuitive navigation, and prominently accessible pathways for students, faculty, and staff to find help and take action.

“Our new website is designed with our community in mind. Whether a student is navigating a difficult situation, a faculty member needs to make a care referral, or a family member wants to understand the resources available at MSU, we want this site to be a welcoming, clear, and easy-to-use resource,” said OSSA director, Mackenzie Fritz.

The redesign is part of a broader effort by Student Affairs to align its offices’ web presence, ensuring a consistency and user-friendly experiences across all units that support Spartan students every day.

“We want every student, faculty member, and community member who visits the site to feel like they’ve found the right place. OSSA’s work spans some of the most important moments in a student’s time at MSU, and the website should reflect the care and accessibility we bring to that work,” said James Hintz, Vice President for Student Affairs.

The refreshed site encompasses the full breadth of OSSA’s work. Visitors will find dedicated sections for:

Academic Integrity

Resources for students, faculty, and staff to understand MSU’s academic integrity standards, navigate academic complaints, and access educational tools that uphold the integrity of scholarly work.

Medical Amnesty

Clear information about MSU’s Medical Amnesty policy—encouraging students to seek emergency help without fear of disciplinary consequences—along with examples and frequently asked questions.

Student Conduct

A comprehensive guide to the conduct process, including student rights and responsibilities, hearing board information, appeal procedures, and resources for students and organizations facing conduct matters.

Conflict Resolution

Pathways for addressing interpersonal and community conflict through restorative justice, conflict coaching, and adjudication, as well as training and workshop opportunities for the campus community.

Medical Leave

Streamlined information for students seeking or returning from medical leave, including how to submit a request, college contacts, and frequently asked questions.

Care and Intervention

One of the most prominently featured sections of the new site, the care area makes it fast and easy to make a referral for a student or employee in distress, seek help, and access the Green Folder and other faculty and staff resources. The care team is committed to improving the safety and well-being of the Spartan community through  compassionate interventions.

Making a CARE Referral Is Now Easier Than Ever

A central goal of the redesign was to make the CARE referral process more visible and accessible. The new homepage prominently features a direct call to action for submitting a CARE referral, reducing the steps it takes for any community member to connect a struggling student, faculty, staff or themselves   with support. The care team accepts referrals from students, faculty, staff, family members, and concerned peers.
