The MSU Asian Pacific American Student Organization (APASO) and MSU APIDA/A Heritage Month Committee are teaming up with the National Asian Pacific American Museum Commission to host a historic regional convening and listening session on campus this month. The event will be held at the MSU Multicultural Center on Saturday, April 11th, beginning with registration at 9:30 a.m. Registration and a schedule of the event can be found at this Eventbrite page.
The Commission is a bipartisan body established by Congress in 2022 and formally launched in June 2025 to examine the feasibility of a new Smithsonian museum in Washington, D.C. Community leaders, academic professionals, and youth from across the state are encouraged to join and share input on what a future National Asian Pacific American Museum could look like.
The commission launched its national listening tour last October, with regional convenings set to take place across the country, “offering community members, experts, and institutions the opportunity to provide their input on what a future museum could look like,” per the Commission.
