MSU Student Spotlight: Meet Lilly Soble

July 28, 2021

Lilly Soble is a senior at Michigan State University (MSU), majoring in advertising management, with a double minor in PR and entrepreneurship.

Activities

Soble is co-editor-in-chief of VIM magazine – Michigan State’s Fashion/beauty/lifestyle magazine. Additionally, Soble is a member of Chi Omega sorority. Outside of her MSU-related endeavors, she is passionate about fashion and creates branded content on her Instagram account (@lillysoble) and on TikTok. Soble has worked with such brands as Madewell, Princesspolly, and Maybelline. Currently, she is partnering with Amazon Prime for their influencer program. When she’s not busy with these commitments, Soble loves to travel. She favors trips up north in the summer, as well as long weekends in New York City.

Favorite Moment at MSU

While she said it’s hard to choose from her many incredible memories at MSU, one that sticks out to Soble is when the MSU men’s basketball team made it to the Final Four in 2019. Even though MSU didn’t win the national championship, Soble recalls the surreal excitement and unforgettable celebrations with her friends.

Accomplishments

Soble is proud of her accomplishments within VIM. During her freshman year, she joined VIM as a general member. She later applied to many teams, but was not accepted. Despite this, Soble powered through and continued to be an active and involved member of VIM throughout her sophomore and junior years. Fast forward to her senior year, Soble is now co-editor-in-chief and oversees 20-plus teams. She sees this as proof that you can do anything you set your mind to.

The Future

From a professional standpoint, Soble’s aspirations are to move to a big city (possibly New York) and continue working in the fashion/influencer marketing industry. Personally, Soble hopes to live a fulfilling life that includes new adventures and deep connections. She said she loves forming relationships with people from varying backgrounds and she hopes to be surrounded by influential individuals.

Advice for Other Spartans

My advice for fellow Spartans is to embrace your failures and successes. Each challenge you face will ultimately teach you a very important lesson and will guide you to where you are meant to be. Trust the process and don’t get discouraged if one opportunity doesn’t unfold the way you’d like. Everything always works out.”
