How to Connect:

Programs/Events:

ESW-MSU offers students the opportunity to work on community based projects in East Lansing while applying their engineering skills. ESW-MSU meets at 7 p.m. each Wednesday via zoom to discuss events and work on projects. Currently, they group is working on the Fenner Nature Center project, which intends to build a rooftop garden or green roof on a shed-like structure. This will become an educational tool for elementary students in the community. ESW-MSU is using 3D CAD modeling to accomplish this project virtually and safely.

Throughout the past six years, ESW-MSU has also worked on the African Alliance projects to design a low cost vehicle to transport water. This helped ease the labor for farmers in Tanzania and Kenya. Additionally, ESW-MSU hosted its annual fundraiser by playing Pictionary online. Half of the prize pool was awarded to the winner and the other half will fund ESW-MSU’s future projects.

COVID-19 Changes:

Despite the effects of the pandemic, ESW-MSU has managed to stay connected with its members through regular zoom meetings and events. The annual conference allowed members to work with students and professionals across the country, and was much more accessible this year because it was entirely virtual.
